~~In and out of the hospital ~~

Tuesday morning, June 28th, Richard and I awoke at 4:30 AM and then woke the children at 5 AM ... because we wanted to arrive at Columbia, Missouri's hospital before Paul's scheduled surgery (we had a 2 1/2 hr trip ahead of us). We enjoyed watching the beautiful sunrise the first part of our trip ... but I'm not sure I loved it enough to awaken again at 4:30.  :)  :)
We were excited/grateful to reach Columbia before Paul's surgery, with enough time to sit and visit awhile with mom and dad Sorrell! The Doctor was obviously running late, but that didn't bother us. Well, it was a concern for Paul, with his fasting for over 24 hours!!!   :)
Here we are saying "Goodbye...", before Paul is wheeled away to surgery~
After waiting awhile for the actual surgery to begin, I took the kids to a nearby park while Richard stayed at the hospital with his mother. The boys had a great time with the scooters they had brought, and loved the nice, big swings!   :)
Ashlyn's favorite part was the water park! I've never seen a public park with such a nice water area! There was a "spraying fountain" area, and then a separate "beach" area where one could play in the sand or swim in the lake! Needless to say, the kids had a blast and thought they were on vacation ...    :)   :)
After a couple of hours (?) at the park, the kids & I returned to the hospital to find that the surgery had been successful, and that Paul was slowly recovering. The photo below was actually taken the next day, soon before Paul was released from the hospital and before we left for home!!
A whirlwind of a trip, and we were exhausted afterwards, but it was well worth it.   :) :)  This is what being a family is all about.    : )
Yes, Paul is recovering well ... and it will be another week until we hear the test results (regarding cancer).
It's late and I'm tired~! Goodnight!    :)
