Life rushes on ...

It's official: SCHOOL'S OUT!! : ) : ) : ) : )
After picking up Caleb from his last day of school @ Zion (a half-day), a brick suddenly hit me while I was driving down the road. My son will be in JUNIOR HIGH next fall (5th grade)!!! AAhhhhhhhh....................
I am SO glad God gave us babies we could grow up with (some couples start out past the baby/toddler age)! I have no idea what life will be like with a junior higher, and feel totally unprepared. I'm certain the thing NOT to do, is talk about him on my blog. Hee hee ... here it goes anyhow .... (Shh, don't tell!) ...

Caleb brought home his Iowa Achievement test results today. I was pleased to see that he's an average, slightly above average student. I was GREATLY surprised to find that his highest scores were in the following categories: Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Social Studies [not Math??]. WOW!! I guess I don't need to work so hard drilling his reading comprehension. I need to focus on test taking skills instead (and maybe even math?). : ) What did not surprise me was his lowest scores in Capitalization, Punctuation and Usage/Expression. Amazing what these test results show. :)

If I had tested Caleb a year or two ago, it may have helped with our home school! So, if you're a home schooler, don't hesitate to test your kids starting in third grade because you may discover some things you didn't know, and can better help your child [this was Caleb's first time for Achievement testing; I plan to have Antonin tested next year thru our home school group] :) :) : )

Have a wonderful weekend --- happy SUMMER VACATION to you!

Just wait till they graduate from high school! And the kids that you used to babysit for are now driving! Somehow I still think of myself as younger (like 30's).
